How much is the work of art I own worth?
The CRMA is not permitted to appraise or estimate the value of art works. Whether the question ranges from "Is it an original?" to "Who is the artist?" we recommend you contact one of the following sources for help with the answers:

Where can I learn more about a specific artist or type of art?
The Museum maintains artist files on the artists in the CRMA permanent collection. If you are researching one such artist or work by an artist please contact the Curatorial Department for more information. If the artist or work is not part of the CRMA permanent collection, there are a variety of ways for you to research an artist and specific work of art. We suggest you start your search online with a site like Artcyclopedia or Ask ART. You can also search out other museums, universities or libraries that may specialize in what or who you are researching.
I am an artist. Would the CRMA ever consider me for a solo exhibition?
The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is always interested in learning about and discovering new artists. Artists are welcome to submit a cover letter, set of 20 images (slides, DVD or website information), and resume for consideration. Please allow plenty of time for these materials to be reviewed as the quantity of submissions is sometimes quite high. Also, please be aware that our exhibition schedule is usually booked for several years in advance to allow the proper amount of time for exhibition planning and implementation. Proposals and materials should be mailed to:

How do I donate an artwork to the Museum?

May I talk to a curator?

I have an artwork that needs to be cleaned. Who should I call?
The Museum cannot endorse specific conservators. However, information about selecting a conservator can be found on the web site for the American Institute for Conservation.
I need to move a large painting or sculpture. What is the best way to handle this?
Again, the CRMA does not endorse specific fine art handling or shipping companies. For crating and shipping you can try U.S. Art Company, Inc., ARTEX Fine Arts Services, Terry Dowd, Inc., or Atelier 4, Inc..
I have my own art collection. How do I take care of it?
We recommend you visit the Preserving My Heritage website hosted by the Canadian Conservation Institute or contact the American Association of Museums.
Can the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art help me/us promote our local arts event? We are sure it will be of great interest to the Museum's audience.
Unfortunately, the CRMA receives many such requests. Our policy is to only promote activities and events that the CRMA organizes or co-sponsors.
I am interested in using an image of an artwork that the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art owns. Who do I contact for permission to reproduce it?
