Spotlight on You! Family Fun Day
The corridor is full of talented artists, including you! Join us for a day of free art activities for all ages. Tour the galleries with some of the local artists featured in our new exhibition. Then you can become the newest local artist with make-and-take art projects!
• Not a Box: Kids & adults can use the cardboard boxes we’ve collected to build things. They can be decorated or just imagined to be other things. Inspired by gallery artwork, as well as a children’s book titled, “Not a Box” in which a bunny imagines his box turns into things like a rocket or a burning building in need of extinguishing.
• Puzzles: Puzzle pieces are turned into art projects (gluing to photo frames, for example).
• “Aerial” View Floor Mural: Similar to one of the paintings in the exhibition, kids & adults can work on a collaborative project that will end up looking like an aerial photograph of Iowa farmland.
• Featured artist "guided tours" as follows:
11:30 a.m. Kathryn Hagy
12:30 p.m. Bill Stamats
1:00 p.m. Michelle Fischer
1:30 p.m. Dena Tollefson
2:30 p.m. Velga Easker
• Short films from local independent filmmakers
Sponsored by the Alliant Energy Foundation, International Paper – Cedar River Mill, and University of Iowa Community Credit Union.
