Contemporary Art

With a long-standing tradition of collecting art of its own time, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art keeps a keen eye on contemporary art, especially from the region. Building on the Museum's strong collection of work by Midwestern artists, the Museum continues to collect art by Midwestern and Iowan artists. This has resulted in the recent acquisition of works by Ellen Wagener, Roger Brown, Nancy Lindsay, Laura Larabee, and Cat Chow. Many of these are exhibited on a rotating basis in the exhibition Midwestern Visions: Grant Wood, Marvin Cone, and Beyond.
