EVENT SUMMARY



The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Museum Store is pleased to announce an open call for entries for the 6th annual Artists Market, It’s All About the Art, to be held Sunday, November 24th. This juried show is as sophisticated as its setting at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. This is a perfect opportunity for artists to exhibit and sell their original works of art locally. Guests to the museum will enjoy a special opportunity to meet and talk with all the artists in one place. They will be able to purchase works of all shapes, sizes, and disciplines: paintings, prints, functional work, pottery, sculpture, stained glass, collage, fiber art, jewelry and accessories…perfect for the gift-giving season.

JURY PROCESS



The Artists Market is a juried show. Your name and residential information is not provided to the jurors.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE





1. Complete the attached entry form and application and e-mail to
lwendel@crma.org





2. Non-refundable Jury Fee of $15.00 due with application.  Jury fee checks should be made payable and mailed to Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Store.  Mail jury fee checks to:  Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Store, Attn: Lou Wendel, 410 3rd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA  52401







3. E-mail three (3) high resolution images (300 dpi) representative of the work you intend to sell; and one (1) image of your booth (recommended).  Include item name, media, size, and price for each image. We will use one of these images for publicity purposes.

  • Provide a statement describing your process, technique, and/or materials. Maximum 50 words.  This statement will be provided to the jurors.  All exhibited work must be original in concept and created by the accepted applicant.  No work made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, stencils, or prefabricated forms may be exhibited.  Reproductions of original art may be sold, but must not comprise more than 20% of exhibited work or occupy more than 20% of a booth space.



     

PLEASE NOTE: You may only exhibit comparable artwork for which you have submitted and must be only your work.

 

SCHEDULE

 

September 15:  Application Deadline and Jury Fee of $15.00 due

 

  • Jury Fees: Once you have submitted an application and fee, you will be entered into the jury pool.  If you wish to withdraw your application, you will still be responsible for this fee.  All jury fees will be deposited by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art upon receipt.

 

October 1:  Notice of jury results will be e-mailed.

 

October 15:  Booth, electricity and table requests due.  Your preferences will be taken in the order they are received. Space availability is limited.

  • Booth Fee: Artists may request their preferred booth size

    • 8’W x 4’D cost $65.00

    • 10'W x 10'D cost $95.00

    • all artists are located in the Carnegie, 1st floor

  • Please do not send a booth fee payment until you have been invited/selected into the Market.

 

 

October 22:  Booth fee, space and electricity confirmation will be e-mailed no later than this date.

 

November 1:  Booth fee due.

 

November 10:  Last day for cancellation with refund of booth fee.

 

November 23:  Exhibitor load-in and set-up, 4:00 – 7:00pm.

 

November 24:  Exhibitor load-in and set-up continues 8:00 – 9:45am.  Set up must be complete by 9:45am.  The Artist Market opens at 10:00am and closes at 4:00pm.    

 

November 24: Artist Market closes at 4:00pm.  Take down of work is 4:00 – 6:00pm

 

 

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1.  It’s All About the Art is open to all exhibitors 18 years of age and older.

 

2.  All works on display must be for sale. There is no commission to the Museum Store. You are responsible for your sales and taxes.

 

3.  All sales will be conducted between the artist and purchaser.  Artists are responsible for obtaining a State of Iowa seller’s permit and for collecting and paying Iowa sales tax on all sales made during the Artists Market.  All transactions are the responsibility of the artist.

 

4.  Artists whose work differs from the images submitted will not be able to sell the items unless there is approval from the jury.  The judgment of the jury will be final, and no refunds will be given.

 

5. Artists must be present to exhibit and manage their displays during the Artists Market.  Artists are limited to the booth space they were assigned.  Booth spaces are non-transferable.  Any artist who has not been juried into the Artists Market, or has not paid the jury and booth fees, will not be allowed to exhibit.

 

6. If accepted, you agree to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art the use of your images and name for promotional purposes.





7.  If CRMA staff members or volunteers find that an exhibiting artist has caused damage to CRMA’s property, that artist will be held responsible and will be invoiced following the event.

 





Expectations on days of the event:

  1. No food or drink provided to the artists, please bring what you need or order in.

  2. Signage for all Artists at all entrances.

  3. Parking on the streets is free on the weekends. Please leave the Museum lot for the guests.

  4. Volunteers will be available to help the days of the event.
