Art Bites Setting the Table: The Art of Still Life

Emerging as an independent genre in the seventeenth century, still life paintings were highly symbolic and included all kinds of man-made or natural objects - cut flowers, fruit, vegetables, fish, game, etc. - that reflected the values of the society and artists that created them. The exhibition draws upon the idea of the “Grand Tour” – an actual trip through Europe that wealthy Europeans and Americans took from the mid-1600s to the mid-1900s. The selected artworks from the CRMA’s collection follows artists around European cities, highlighting the churches, sculptures, architecture, ruins, and other places that inspired them.   more >>

"One" artist Michael Wilson Meet-and-Greet

Meet Michael Wilson amongst his works in his one-man exhibition, One Man, One War, One Hundred Years on Sunday 11/11/18 at 2pm. Wilson was inspired after finding WWI pictures and memorabilia that belonged to his great-uncle. This exhibition distills the Great War to the level of one man and the history he shared with his young great-nephew. Wilson’s rich, sepia-toned oil paintings of his great-uncle’s experiences are accented with red poppies to emphasize the lives lost. Free with paid gallery admission; veterans get in free with ID.
