Face to Face: Portraits from the Print Collection
Face to Face: Portraits from the Print Collection
April 14 - August 13, 2006
Face to Face features 34 works from the Museum's extensive collection of prints, including works by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Paul Cezanne, and Andy Warhol.
Consulting curator, Charles Helsell---a CRMA volunteer---organized the exhibition, which addresses the questions of what a portrait actually is and why artists create them.
"Face to Face
offers a unique opportunity for visitors to consider the many ways in which portraiturehas changed over the course of the past 400 years," says CRMA Curator Sean Ulmer. "So many issues of identity are wrapped up in the way people want themselves to be pictured. This exhibition provides a glimpse into people's sense of themselves as well as the artist's translation of that into the print medium."
