Cedar Rapids artist and former Cedar Rapids Art Association director Stan Wiederspan has embarked upon a radically new series of paintings: hyper realistic acrylic paintings representing ordinary cardboard boxes. While seemingly mundane, the box nonetheless evokes of many specific associations for the viewer. Dramatically lit, these ordinary objects take on a spiritual feeling and the arrangement of them in the CRMA's long,
slender gallery on the second floor will create an almost chapel-like experience. The CRMA presentation is the national premiere of this series.
