Local Organizations Team Up to Present Cedar Rapids Area Environmental Film Festival
Cedar Rapids, Iowa— Sixteen local organizations are teaming up to present the Third Annual Cedar Rapids Area Environmental Film Festival. Film screenings will take place at various locations during the month of October and all events are free and open to the public.
The films that will be shown during the festival will include a wide variety of environmental topics from local foods to sustainable building and famous environmental figures. There will be something of interest for everyone! A complete listing of films and events can be found below.
Presenting organizations will also be taking part in the Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturday, October 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Stop by our booth in Green Square Park on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 5th Street where staff members from participating organizations will be available to tell you more about the festival, as well as answering any questions you may have.

One of America’s first naturalists, John James Audubon (1785-1851) was perhaps best known as an artist, publisher, and promoter. His book, The Birds of America, an astonishing collection of 435 life-size prints, was the largest book printed in the 19th century and his early subscribers included the kings of England and France. Winner of numerous awards, this 54-minute film will be followed by a look at some actual Audubon prints.
