December 03, 2010

Cedar Rapids, Iowa—The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMA) is pleased to continue the Creative Connections: Artists in Action series with Dai Kui on Saturday, December 18 beginning at 10:30 a.m. This program is free and open to the public!

Creative Connections is a collaborative effort between the CRMA and local artists to reach and teach non-artists about the artistic processes. We are honored to have 10 works from artist and art professor Dai Kui of China. Some of his friends from Cedar Rapids will discuss his techniques, and answer all of your questions about Chinese calligraphy!

Dai, Kui, a professor in Fine Art Institute in Hebei Normal University, is well known in traditional Chinese water color painting in North China, especially at expressing nature and emotion through his strokes. Many of his works were awarded prizes in a nation wide exhibition. He has also published a few books and some of his works have been collected in a subject portfolio. In addition the above achievements his works were also welcomed when exhibited in Japan and Korea. He is still teaching in the university both undergraduate and graduate students while he creates more art works.
