Junior Docent Training at the Grant Wood Studio

May 16, 2011
Cedar Rapids, Iowa—In an effort to get the younger generation involved in the arts, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art has scheduled a series of Junior Docent trainings. The next Junior Docent training session is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Grant Wood Studio.

This one will appeal to art fans as well as history buffs because we’ll be training students to give tours at the historic site of Grant Wood’s art studio and home. Wood lived worked in the Studio from 1924-1935, but his spirit is still very much alive as visitors observe the decorative details and craftsmanship that went into transforming the loft into a studio, performance space, and living quarters.

Training is free, but pre-registration is required. Middle & high school students must pre-register by Friday, May 27 by contacting CRMA Education Director, Erin Thomas at 319.366.7503 ext. 203 or ethomas@crma.org.

For more information about all that is happening at the CRMA, please visit us online at www.crma.org or call 319.366.7503.
