Discover Grant Wood

If you are interested in regionalist artist Grant Wood, you’ve come to the right place! At the CRMA you can view the world’s largest collection of works by Grant Wood. A visit to the original Grant Wood Studio—located just blocks from the Museum—allows you to take a guided tour of the space where Wood lived and worked from 1924 to 1935. Taking Shape: Recent Acquisitions in the Fine Art of Craft
Building upon the foundation of A Show of Hands, the 2010-2012 exhibition celebrating the growth of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art’s ceramics collection, Taking Shape continues this investigation by presenting recent acquisitions not only in ceramics, but in many of the decorative arts. While ceramics still dominate the Museum’s acquisitions in this field, Taking Shape also includes work in glass, wood, and metal. Most of these are by contemporary artists, although older work has also been acquired in an effort to show the continuum within a medium.
