Grant Wood: In Focus

June 20, 2009 - October 23, 2016

Grant Wood, Young Corn, 1931, oil on Masonite panel, 24 x 29 7/8 in., collection of the Cedar Rapids Community School District, on loan to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.

Culled from the Museum’s extensive collection of work by Grant Wood, this single-gallery installation will trace Wood’s entire career from his youthful creations until his death in 1942.  It will serve as an overview of the artistic achievements of this important American painter.

Grant Wood: In Focus has been made possible in part by The Richard D. Pinney Exhibition Fund, Diamond V. Mills* and Intermec Foundation. General exhibition and educational support has been provided by the Momentum Fund.*

I loved following the Grant Wood trail while in Cedar Rapids working on an article about art in the city. Grant Wood's pieces at the museum was amazing!

I visited the Art Museum from the UK in September and was most impressed with the Grant Wood exhibition. It was well worth the 4500 mile journey from home. I hope to be able to visit again some day.

I am very pleased the the museum has set up an ongoing, permanent collection exhibit exclusively for the works of Grant Wood and a timeline of his life and art career. I drove all the way from northern Minnesota to see it and I was not disappointed. Thank you.
