Red + White + Blue

What do you get when you mix white with red or blue? What if you mix in more & more white? The French word is ombré; artists call it value. We’ll experiment today, and turn it into a cool and delicious-looking work of art.*

Supplies: To do the art project along with Miss Erin, you’ll need these materials:

·         Tempera paint or other washable paint: white + one other color of your choice

·         A washable or disposable container for a paint palette (Miss Erin will be using a disposable plate)

·         Paintbrush and water for rinsing

·         Paper towels

·         Several pieces of white paper thick enough to withstand wet media, like cardstock or construction paper

·         A piece of brown paper or cardboard —6” square or less is plenty

·         A pencil

·         Scissors

·         Glue stick

·         Optional: a black marker
