Art is the Word: Text in Art

Text has been incorporated into artwork for centuries. Some artists use it as another pictorial element, adding shape, texture, or detail to their work. Others use it linguistically to create a narrative or convey a message in their work. No matter how text is used, it can have a huge impact in an artwork. This exhibition explores how text appears in work within the collection of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
