Through the Lens: Photography after 1950 from the Collection

January 14 – April 30, 2023

The CRMA has a small but impressive collection of photographs.  Over the past two decades there have been a number of significant additions in photography to the museum’s holdings and this exhibition celebrates a number of these.  From Robert van Sternberg to Luke Erikson to Robert Fichter, these more recent voices in the world of photography not only demonstrate the varied interests during the past sixty years but also reflect current directions in this nearly 200-year-old medium.

This exhibition and accompanying educational programming have been made possible in part by the Carleen & Eugene Grandon Charitable Foundation, the CRST International Donor-Advised Fund of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, and the McIntyre Foundation.  Additional support has been provided by the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts, members of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, and contributors to the Museum’s Annual Fund.  Annual educational programming has been supported in part by Transamerica.
